PUNE: In a major relief for thousands of daily commuters, Pune Metro Line 3, connecting the IT hub of Hinjewadi to the city center at Shivajinagar, is finally set to begin operations. After missing multiple deadlines, the 23.3-km fully elevated corridor is on track for a phased launch, with the first phase expected to be commissioned by August 2026.
The first phase will cover a 13.3-km stretch between Maan and the RK Laxman Museum station, comprising 12 stations. The remaining section, which will connect the line to the existing Maha Metro network at Civil Court, is expected to open in the following months.
Once fully operational, the metro line is expected to cut travel time between Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi to just 45 minutes, a massive reduction from the current 90 minutes or more during peak traffic.
